The Deputy Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Clement Apaak has announced a twenty percent (20%) salary top-up for teachers who accept postings to rural and communities.
Speaking during a courtesy call with top BECE Awardees, he emphasized that the Teacher Dabre Programme, which includes accommodation support, is part of the government’s efforts to reduce educational inequalities and motivate teachers in rural areas.
“The program that will reward teachers who take up teaching positions in rural areas, slightly more than their colleagues.
“The policy that is going to allow teachers who take up posting in rural communities, 20% on top of their gross salary, as part of the motivation,” the Deputy Minister said.
He further reiterated that the combined incentive will ease the burden of service for teachers, enabling them to accept appointments in rural areas aimed at bridging the gap in educational opportunities.
