President John Dramani Mahama, as the African Union’s Champion for Reparations, has returned to Ghana on Sunday, March 29, 2026, after successfully leading Africa’s historic push at the United Nations.

The President’s arrival at Kotoka International Airport drew widespread jubilation from government officials, traditional leaders, and citizens who celebrated Ghana’s renewed moral leadership on the global stage.

Leading the welcoming delegation, the Vice President, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, praised Mahama for his visionary stewardship in rallying African nations toward reparative justice.

Addressing the crowd, President Mahama described the achievement “as a proud moment for Ghana, Africa, and the people of African descent.”

He further emphasised that Ghana had once again demonstrated principled leadership in championing justice and equality at the international level.
