The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, has accused President Mahama’s administration of using the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) as a political weapon against the NPP
Addressing a press on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, he asserted that the EOCO has “become a conveyor belt for political hatchet jobs,” alleging a pattern of selective arrests.
His comment follows alleged incidents to support its claims, including what he described as unlawful raids on the homes of public officials.
“You recall how they invaded the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, and later they came to apologize through the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga.
“They did the same to the former Bank of Ghana governor; they broke into his house, broke into all his rooms, took some cars, and left.
“Later, they called him that they had left the cars on the Beach road, so he should send drivers to come for the cars,” he said.
Mr. Boakye purported that EOCO’s actions demonstrate a disregard for the rule of law, reflecting political interference at the highest level.
“From selective arrests to midnight weeks to media trials before court trials, he has turned a state institution into an opposition hunting ground.
He argued that the institution is being used to undermine public confidence, claiming that “EOCO answers not to the law but to political masters.”
