Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has declared his team’s readiness to give their all for Ghana at the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, emphasizing the players’ commitment to the national flag.
Defending his final 26-man squad for the tournament, the Portuguese manager highlighted the passion and determination within the team.
According to Carlos Queiroz, individual conversations with players left him deeply moved by their devotion to representing Ghana.
“Enjoy it. Be proud of your team. We’re going to give our best. The players, they want to die for the shirt. I did individual interviews with all of them. I was touched by the feelings they expressed about playing for the Black Stars. Believe me, they have great respect for the nation and the people. I’m sure they’ll do their best.”
He cautioned, however, that the World Cup is a highly competitive stage, using the phrase “This is not a walk in the park. It’s not a day at the beach.”
“We play the best teams in the world. They have the same wish, desire, motivation, and ambition. When the game starts, it’s 50-50. People need to accept that football is unpredictable. We fight for the result.”
Carlos Queiroz also assured fans that the team will approach every match with a winning mentality, aiming to make the nation proud.
“We’ll be on the pitch with one thing in mind: to make people happy. We’ll fight with a winning mentality. If we’re the best team on the day, the chances of leaving as winners are always high. And I hope when our players come off, they come with their heads up, proud of themselves, and make Ghana proud.”
The Black Stars will play Wales in a friendly match on Tuesday, June 2, before they depart for the United States for the tournament.
