Kojo Shugga Jnr: The church and the people
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Have Faith in God, Not in Humans.
Many people have walked away from God, not because God failed them, but because people did.

They watched those who preached about heaven chase after earthly wealth. They listened to messages about sacrifice while seeing others build fortunes for themselves. They heard words about humility but witnessed pride, hypocrisy, and selfishness. Over time, confusion settled into their hearts.

Some began to ask difficult questions:
“If money is the root of evil, why are those preaching against it obsessed with it?”

“If this world is not our home, why are some so busy securing everything in it?”

These questions are real, and many people silently carry them. The mistake, however, is not in asking the questions. The mistake is allowing the failures of human beings to define who God is.

Human beings will disappoint you. Pastors can disappoint you. Leaders can disappoint you. Friends can disappoint you. Even those you trust the most can fail you. We are all imperfect people trying to navigate an imperfect world.

But God is not human. God does not change because people change.
God does not become unfaithful because people are unfaithful.
God does not stop being good because some people misuse His name.
Many have abandoned their faith because they placed their trust in people rather than in God.

Accra’s packed buses put commuters’ health at risk

When those people fell, their faith fell with them. But faith built on human beings will always be fragile because human beings are flawed.

The truth is that your relationship with God should never depend on the behavior of another person. When people hurt you, God still loves you. When people reject you, God still sees you. When people mislead you, God still guides you.
When people break your heart, God still heals.

The greatest tragedy is not that people fail; it is allowing their failures to convince you that God has failed too.
Do not judge God by the actions of people who claim to represent Him. Judge Him by His faithfulness, His mercy, His grace, and the countless times He has carried you through situations you thought would destroy you.

There may be moments when your faith feels weak. There may be seasons when you feel abandoned and confused. There may be times when you do not understand what God is doing.
Keep believing.
Keep praying.
Keep trusting.
Because while people may leave, God remains.
While people may betray, God remains.
While people may change, God remains.
Put your faith in God, not in human beings. People are temporary, but God is eternal. Human promises may fail, but God’s promises endure forever.

Trust God enough to look beyond the imperfections of people and see the perfection of His love.
In the end, it is not people who save us.
It is God.
