Black Stars head coach, Carlos Queiroz, has expressed his support for victims of the devastating floods in Accra, offering condolences to bereaved families and those affected by the disaster.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, Queiroz expressed that he was speaking on behalf of himself, his technical team, and the entire Black Stars squad currently in the United States.
“We express our deepest solidarity with the victims of the floods in Accra,” he stated.
Addressing those affected, the coach acknowledged the pain caused by the disaster, describing the images and reports from Ghana as heartbreaking.
“To the families who have lost loved ones, those who have been displaced from their homes, and everyone affected, we are with you. The images and reports from home are heartbreaking, and even though we are here preparing for our World Cup match against Colombia, our thoughts have not left Ghana,” he said.
Queiroz noted that moments like these serve as a reminder that football takes a back seat when lives are at stake.
“In moments like this, we are reminded that football is secondary. Ghana is one family. When Accra suffers, we all suffer,” he added.
The Black Stars coach also assured Ghanaians that the team would carry the nation in their hearts when they take to the field at Kansas City Stadium on July 3.
“We will carry the people of Accra in our hearts when we walk out at Kansas City Stadium on July 3. Your resilience is our inspiration. We will give everything to make you proud and to bring some hope in this difficult time,” he said
He further encouraged affected residents to remain strong.
“Stay strong, Accra. Stay strong, Ghana. We stand with you,” he wrote.
