The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga Central Municipal Assembly, Emmanuel Adottey Allotey, has expressed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting agricultural development and improving livelihoods in the Municipality.
Speaking during a Stakeholders Engagement with Chiefs in the Municipality at Ablekuma, Mr. Allotey highlighted key government interventions being implemented to boost farming and environmental sustainability.

He said through the Government’s ‘Tree for Life Initiative’, the Municipality received 702 tree seedlings for distribution to beneficiaries.
“Through the government’s Tree for Life Initiative, the Municipality received 702 tree seedlings for disruption to beneficiaries in support of environmental sustainability, afforestation, and climate resilience.
“The seedlings comprise a variety of economic and indigenous tree species, including orange, pearl, mango, prekese, cashew, passion fruit and mahogany. This initiative is expected to contribute to improved livelihoods for residents of the Municipality,” he revealed on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

According to the MCE, the initiative is expected to improve environmental conservation, increase tree cover and enhance livelihoods for residents.
Mr. Allotey also disclosed that under the ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti Program’, the Assembly received 9,856 day-old chicks. Out of that number, 8,168 were successfully distributed to beneficiaries, with the difference attributed to unavoidable mortalities.
He explained that the program is intended to enhance household poultry production, improve food security, create livelihood opportunities, and increase local agricultural productivity.

On market infrastructure, the MCE said the Assembly has undertaken inspections of proposed sites for the establishment of a Farmers’ Market at Ablekuma Curve. “The market, when completed, will provide a reliable outlet for farmers and facilitate access to fresh produce for residents at moderate prices.”
Touching on input support, Mr. Allotey noted that under the ‘Feed Ghana Program’, the Assembly has received a total of 2,300 bags of fertilizer for distribution to farmers. So far, 156 farmers and three institutions: Odorgonno Senior High School, Catholic Seminary, and Franciscan Seminary have benefited.

He added that the program is designed to boost agricultural productivity, enhance crop yields, strengthen food security, improve farmers’ incomes, and promote sustainable agricultural practices to contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the Municipality.
