Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) has apologised to customers nationwide following temporary interruptions in water supply caused by a national power outage affecting its treatment plants and pumping stations.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 29, GWL said the ongoing challenges being experienced by the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) on the National Interconnected Transmission System have adversely affected the operations of several of its facilities across the country.

“As a result of the power supply interruptions, most of GWL’s water production systems, which rely on electricity supplied through the national grid, are not operational.

“Consequently, the Company is currently unable to produce and distribute potable water to customers in the affected areas,” the company stated.

Management said its technical teams are on standby and will immediately resume production and distribution as soon as stable electricity supply is restored.

GWL added that it is working closely with relevant power sector institutions and closely monitoring the situation to ensure that normal operations resume at the earliest possible time.

“Management of Ghana Water Ltd sincerely apologises to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate situation, which is beyond our control,” the statement added.

It urged customers to contact Stanley Martey, Chief Manager, PR & Communications, on +233 244 336 180 for more enquiries.
