The Chief Executive Officer of Gamey and Gamey Group, Austin Gamey, has called on community leaders and business-minded individuals to maximise their potential and play a more active role in advancing Ghana’s socio-economic development.
Speaking as guest speaker at the 2026 Ghana Outstanding Community Leadership Awards (GOCLA) held at Alisa Hotel North Ridge, Mr Gamey said meaningful national development depends on leaders who deliberately invest in their communities by creating opportunities, improving livelihoods, and expanding their impact.

He observed that while many businesses and professionals possess the ability to achieve significantly more, limited capacity, inadequate resources, and challenges with business expansion continue to constrain growth.
“As a consultant in labour, human resources and conflict resolution, I recognise that we could have been doing two, three or even four times what we are doing now,” he said.
He added: “We are unable to do it because maybe we do not have all the capacity, maybe we do not know how to expand further or add value to what we do.”

Mr Gamey stressed that community transformation requires intentional leadership, warning that stagnant communities ultimately undermine their own development. “As community leaders, we have the responsibility to add value to the community. Because if the community is sleeping, slowing down, not rising, it is not developing further. Really what it means is that we are limiting ourselves.”
Organised by The Business Executive Communications Group (TBE), the Ghana Outstanding Community Leadership Awards recognises individuals whose work has significantly advanced community development, economic empowerment, good governance, peace-building, philanthropy, youth and women empowerment, and improved living standards across Ghana. Honourees are selected through an independent multi-stage assessment process involving research consultants and an Awards Selection Jury, rather than public voting, to ensure transparency and objectivity.

The 2026 edition honoured distinguished personalities across categories including Outstanding Community Leader, Community Philanthropist, Youth Empowerment Advocate, Women Empowerment Advocate, Traditional Leader, Healthcare Provider, Education Provider, and Community Project Financier.

The gala ceremony brought together captains of industry, policymakers, development partners, community leaders, and other stakeholders to celebrate individuals and institutions whose leadership, innovation, and resilience continue to make significant contributions across manufacturing, logistics, education, healthcare, technology, finance, construction, and social development.
