President John Dramani Mahama is expected to commission the refurbished Crude Distillation Unit (CDU) and witness the historic receipt of Jubilee Crude for local refining at the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
The landmark ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the forecourt of the Tema Oil Refinery.
The event marks a major milestone for Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector, as it signals the return of TOR to active crude processing and the direct use of Ghana’s own Jubilee Crude for local refining.
Management of TOR has extended a cordial invitation to the media to provide coverage of the commissioning ceremony.
The refurbishment of the CDU is expected to boost TOR’s refining capacity, reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported refined products, and create more jobs in the energy sector.
The presidency and TOR officials are expected to address stakeholders during the ceremony.
