Jordan Ayew struck thrice as Ghana staged a fierce second-half comeback to beat the Central African Republic 4-3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Monday, June 2024.

The game, a qualifier for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, saw the Ghanaian side record a 4-3 scoreline.

Ghana’s quest for a slot for the tournament to be co-hosted by the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada were left in question after their opponents struck twice in the first half.

Having been threatened much for the first half, Amiens forward Louis Mafouta hit a brace to cancel out Jordan Ayew’s early strike from the penalty spot.

Coach Otto Addo’s men dominated the enemies’ territory after the break with a sublime header from Jordan Ayew connecting Gideon Mensah’s cross to level the score in the 60th minute.

Leicester City winger Fatawu Issahaku gave the stars the lead two minutes later with a deflected strike inside the box before Jordan Ayew capped off his hatrick feat in the 69th minute.

The away side with fresh legs in the dye embers of the game managed to pull one back in the 90th minute before the referee ended proceedings.
