The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asunafo South in the Ahafo Region, Frank Aduse-Poku, has described as ‘awkward and annoying’ the deliberate re-branding of 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the saviour of Ghana by communicators of the main opposition political party.

According to Aduse-Poku, the NDC’s flagbearer is not a saint who emerged from a different planet and could be tagged as the redeemer of Ghana since his track record as Vice and President of Ghana has never been the best.

“Whenever I listen to the utterances of NDC members about the coming John Mahama, I ask myself if these people are bringing a new John Mahama or the old Mahama we know. If it is a new Mahama, then it’s okay but if it is the same Mahama whose able leadership left behind a collapsed economy, then they should give us a break because nothing has changed about him…,” he said on Angel Morning Show.

To him it is crass ignorance for NDC communicators to think of their leader as different from the one who was the Vice President of late John Atta Mills.

“Why are the NDC projecting Mahama like he is coming from a different planet? They should stop behaving as if Ghanaians have not witnessed Mahama serving as President,” he said.

The DCE who is also the Parliamentary Candidate for the area reminded the NDC to be mindful of their actions because their flagbearer remains the same person who was once a stateman and voted out by Ghanaians due to his poor governance.

“It is the same Mahama who paid teachers 3 months after every one year of service. It was under his regime that hairdressers were using generators to work due to the persistent power outage (dumsor) at the time,” Aduse-Poku added.
