A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency in the Eastern Region, Samuel Ayeh-Paye, believes that the government’s flagship Free SHS policy has been meaningful since its inception.

According to the former lawmaker, the academic success of graduates of this policy at various tertiary institutions in the country is an attestation.

In a studio interview with Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, Mr. Ayeh-Paye expressed his uttermost satisfaction with the students’ academic performance and noted that they have made Ghanaians who believed in the policy very proud.

“Whoever tells me that the Free SHS policy has compromised quality education is entirely wrong because I’m a practical example of it.

“Lectures at the various Universities in the country have publicly confessed that graduates of the Free SHS policy in terms of academic performance are perfect. It is not a hearsay,” he told Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah as he used one of his son’s results as a case study.

He said further that regardless of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposition to the policy, the beneficiary students have proven doubters wrong.
