Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has dared John Dramani Mahama to avail himself for a debate ahead of the 2024 Presidential election.

According to Dr Bawumia, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) should consider honoring the challenge if he believes in himself.

Addressing party sympathizers as part of his campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region, the NPP leader claimed that his competitor seemed very angry as he saw himself losing the election, thus venting his frustration at revered individuals in the country.

“Everyone of you is much aware that the presidential election is keenly between Dr. Bawumia and former president John Mahama, and with how things are going with the campaign, he has realized that he is going to lose badly, so any little thing then he becomes angry over it.

“I learned he has vented his frustrations at members from the Cleargy, Chief Imams, COS, and the EC where he insulted them,” he observed.

He advised Mr. Mahama to live an exemplary life as a statesman rather than resorting to politics of insult, stating that the 2024 elections are about ideology.

“He went ahead to describe the NPP government as foolish. Is this supposed to come out from a former president? We must at least have some standards of decency in the language we speak as politicians.

“This election is about ideas, not insults, but you begin to insult people when you lack ideas; notwithstanding that, if you have ideas, you must present them.”

He stressed: “That is why I’m challenging you for a debate if you believe in yourself. He is scared of me because he knows I speak with data.”
