The Benkumhene of Akwamu Traditional Council in the Eastern Region, Nana Kwaku Budu Akomeah V, has issued a strong warning to market women in Atimpoku in the Asuogyaman District, against invoking curses in the area.
Nana Akomeah V who is the Chief of Atimpoku noted that, he had received multiple reports indicating that some members of the Atimpoku Market Women Association had developed a habit of resorting to invoking curses as a means of settling disputes and misunderstandings among themselves.
In an interview with Angel News, the traditional leader condemned this practice, indicating that such behavior is considered a taboo in the area.
He warned that anyone found guilty of invoking curses henceforth, would face punishment which could include a penalty and other consequences.
“I have warned them not to invoke curses anymore because if anyone is found guilty, they will be brought to my palace with a sheep on her shoulders as compensation to the land, while an investigation is conducted to ascertain the matter,” Nana Akomeah explained to Jaman Dehyee Opambour.
The Chief who doubles as the Aduanahene of Akwamu, added: “After the investigation, whoever is found at fault will face a penalty, paying a fine to the community and the affected party, and vice versa.”
Nana Akomeah also expressed his concern that the Atimpoku Market Women had not officially introduced their group to him over the past seven years, a situation he described as troubling.
He urged the market women to go through the proper channels to officially introduce their group to him, so that he could bless them.
Nana Kwaku Budu Akomeah V issued the warning at Atimpoku during the 31st Anniversary Celebration of the Market Women in the area.
