The Presidential candidate for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has conceded defeat to his fellow contender and former president, John Dramani Mahama.
“I’ve just called He John Dramani Mahama and congratulated him as president-elect… ”
“The people of Ghana have spoken, and we respect the final decision,” Dr Bawumia stated in a concession address Sunday, December 8, 2024.
Bawumia flanked by his wife, Samira and party leaders expressed gratitude to his party supporters.
He also “pledged to ensure that we have a very smooth transition.
The NDC has won the elections decisively although the Electoral Commission has yet to officially released the figures.
It has also taken over Parliament by wide majority of over 180 seats according the party’s communication officer Sammy Gyamfi, who earlier addressed the media same day.
