Founder and Leader of the Glory and Dominion Ministry, Prophet Elisha Joshua, has pledged to reconstruct the statue of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The statue at the Efiankwanta Roundabout in the Western Region was recently destroyed by unknown individuals.
Speaking at a press briefing held at the site, Prophet Elisha described the act as a grave insult to the legacy of a leader who contributed significantly to Ghana’s development.
He also expressed concerns about the spiritual consequences of such an act on the region.
“The destruction of this statue has serious spiritual implications for the Western Region. It represents dishonour to a leader who dedicated himself to this nation.
“Such actions have the potential to bring spiritual disfavour and instability upon the people,” he remarked.
Prophet Elisha, in a show of reconciliation, apologized on behalf of the perpetrators to the former President and the people of Ghana and announced his commitment to rebuild the statue with his resources.
“The former President deserves respect and honor, even after his tenure. On behalf of the residents, I humbly apologize and seek forgiveness.
“Rebuilding this statue will not only restore its dignity but also demonstrate our collective regret over this unfortunate act,” he stated.
The prophet stressed that destructive actions like these only deepen political and social divisions, hindering national progress. He called on Ghanaians to prioritize unity and harmony over rivalry and division.
“This act does not serve us politically or socially; it only fosters rivalry and disunity. We must focus on unity and development as a nation,” he emphasized.
He further revealed that the reconstruction project would commence immediately and reiterated his warning to any individual contemplating further acts of vandalism.
“I will personally fund the reconstruction of this statue. If anyone dares to destroy it again, they will answer to God,” Prophet Elisha declared.
He further urged residents of the Western Region to express remorse for the incident.
The destruction of the Akufo-Addo statue has sparked outrage across the region. Many residents have condemned the act as disgraceful, while others have called for a thorough investigation to apprehend those responsible.
Community leaders have also expressed support for Prophet Elisha’s initiative, describing it as a step toward healing and restoring the roundabout’s iconic status. They believe the statue will continue to symbolize the region’s respect and commitment to Ghana’s leaders.
Prophet Elisha concluded the briefing by urging local authorities and residents to protect public monuments and implement security measures to prevent future incidents as he emphasized its significance as a sign of unity and respect for leadership.
The reconstruction project is set to begin in the coming weeks, with many residents pledging their support for the initiative. Prophet Elisha’s efforts are seen as a symbol of hope and reconciliation in the Western Region.
