A former Parliamentary Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, says he feels proud of what he achieved as the minority leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, he views the opportunity to serve as Minority Leader with pride and holds no grudges against the NDC.

It will be recalled that in January 2023, the Tamale South Member of Parliament (MP) was replaced by his colleague, the MP for Ajumako Enyam Essiam and former Ranking Member of the Finance Committee, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Reacting to the matter on Monday, January 20, 2025, during his vetting as the minister-designate for education, Haruna Iddrisu denied ever feeling pained by the decision and described his mandate as a “rare opportunity to serve.”

“There were some decisions that you’re guided collectively by the party, and then we take a decision. But as I said, I never, never changed [after] being replaced as a Minority Leader. I don’t carry guilt in my heart; I had my opportunity.

“I went out there to campaign for the NDC because I was convinced that, in terms of the management of the economy, I wasn’t satisfied with how the NPP managed the country. I don’t carry guilt in my heart. I had the rare opportunity to serve,” Haruna stated.
