We don’t want an ambitious person as our MCE – Former Mpohor-Fiase NDC Secretary to President Mahama

The former Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Mpohor Fiase, Daniel Mawule Agbeshi, has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama not to appoint individuals with aspirations to contest the sitting Member of Parliament (MP) as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the constituency.

Mr. Agbeshi explained that such an appointment could lead to a conflict of interest, as an MCE with parliamentary ambitions might prioritize personal political goals over the collective interest of the party.

He told Angel News’ Nana Fynn in an interview after successfully undergoing the vetting process for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) for Mpohor-Fiase at the Western Regional party office in Sekondi.

Mr. Agbeshi emphasized the importance of unity and strategic leadership in achieving the party’s objectives and expressed his confidence in his ability to serve the people of the constituency effectively having officially filed for the MCE position for Mpohor-Fiase.

He highlighted his extensive grassroots experience and unwavering dedication to the community’s development, positioning himself as the ideal candidate for the role.

A total of 11 individuals have filed their nominations and successfully gone through the vetting process for the MCE position in Mpohor Fiase, increasing the competition for the role.

According to Mr. Agbeshi, the MCE position should serve as a platform to drive development and improve the well-being of the people, rather than being used as a stepping stone for personal political ambitions.

“The MCE’s role is to spearhead the party’s development agenda in the constituency. If the person appointed has an interest in the parliamentary seat, they are likely to work in their own interest rather than advancing the larger vision of the party. This would not only create division but also jeopardize the party’s prospects in future elections,” he said.

Mr. Agbeshi highlighted the need for grassroots leadership, emphasizing that the MCE must be someone deeply connected to the needs and concerns of the people in Mpohor-Fiase.

“As a grassroots person, I have firsthand knowledge of the challenges our people face, including deplorable roads, poor educational infrastructure, and other pressing issues.

“Over the years, I have been at the forefront of exposing these challenges and bringing them to the attention of the party and relevant authorities. This is why the MCE must be someone who truly understands and shares the struggles of the people—and I fit in that role perfectly,” he added.

He urged the NDC leadership to prioritize candidates who are selfless, visionary, and committed to addressing the pressing needs of the constituency.

Mr. Agbeshi also called on party members in Mpohor-Fiase to set aside their differences and work together to secure a decisive victory for the NDC.
