The handlers of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC have announced the club’s decision to boycott Accra-based Asempa FM, a subsidiary of the Multimedia Group network.

This comes after what the club describes as scathing commentaries broadcast on Asempa FM over the gruesome killing of their supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as Pooley.

According to Kotoko, their decision follows what they described as a “blatant disregard for professionalism, journalistic ethics, and integrity displayed” by one of its presenters.

‘Prof’ E.K Wallace, host of Sports Nite on Asempa FM claimed that the late supporter of the club who met his untimely death at a Ghana Premier League venue was stabbed at a weed ghetto at Nsoatre.

According to the club, the statement is not only an attempt to spread falsehood but also aimed at covering up individuals involved in the killing.

The club vehemently condemned the feature, blaming Asempa FM for derailing the efforts of the law enforcement institutions and compromising professional journalism.

The move of cutting diplomatic ties with the media outfit signifies Kotoko’s zero-tolerance on misinformation and slanderous reporting.
