The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Club Licensing Board has rejected the match venues for seven Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs, including Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, Angelonline.com.gh can report.

This development comes ahead of the GPL restart following its suspension after the gruesome death of Asante Kotoko supporter Nana Frimpong alias ‘Pooley’ at a match venue.

The five other affected clubs are Berekum Chelsea, Accra Lions, Legon Cities, Basake Holy Stars and Young Apostles.

This means Kumasi Asante Kotoko can no longer play at Baba Yara Stadium barring any last-minute changes.

Berekum Chelsea’s Golden City Park in Berekum, Basake Holy Stars’ AAK II Stadium in Ampein and the Wenchi Sports Stadium in Wenchi, used by Young Apostles, have also been affected.

Moreover, the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon, shared by Accra Hearts of Oak, Accra Lions, and Legon Cities as their home venue, has also been rejected by the GFA’s Club Licensing Board.

According to our sources, these, among others will be the list of unapproved grounds after inspections were carried out and failed to meet the Licensing Board’s requirements for the March 7 resumption of the 2024/25 league season.
