Workers at the New Takoradi Health Center in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly in the Western Region, have threatened to boycott night duties.
These health workers, we understand, attribute their decision to frequent theft attempts at the facility by some unidentified youth in the catchment area.
Confirming this in an interview with Angel News’ Nana Fynn, the Assembly Member of the Lower New Takoradi Electoral Area, Gilbert Siaw Afriyie, expressed concerns over the situation and is considering laying down their tools.
He recalled a recent attempted theft at the facility on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at about 16:00 GMT, when unknown individuals tried to break into the health center by forcing open its windows to carry out their activities.
However, in their failed attempt, the thieves caused significant damage to the facility’s windows.
The Assembly Member expressed disappointment over the rampant theft attempts at the facility and pleaded with the health workers to reconsider their decision as local authorities take steps to strengthen security at the center.
Mr. Siaw Afriyie also called on the government to urgently fix the damaged windows to prevent potential dangers, including the entry of wild animals into the facility.
