The President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, has called on the new Inspector General of Police (IGP) to improve the welfare of officers under his command.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new IGP on March 14, 2025, President Mahama emphasized that policing is a demanding profession, and officers must be well compensated.

He stated, “Policing is a demanding profession that requires sacrifice and dedication; therefore, officers must be well remunerated, adequately housed, and provided with proper healthcare and psychological support. A motivated police force is a productive police force.”

President Mahama also took the opportunity to express his deepest gratitude to the outgoing Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

He acknowledged Dr. Dampare’s dedication and commitment to law enforcement and national security, saying his contributions would not be forgotten.
