A tragic accident occurred on the Nkawkaw-Atibie Amanfrom Road, opposite Emmanuel Oboy Preparatory School, resulting in the death of one person and leaving 24 others seriously injured.

The accident involved a Sprinter bus with registration number GR-6416-23, which collided with a stationary trailer.

According to the Sprinter bus driver, Isaac Boachie, he was traveling from Accra to Kumasi when the incident occurred.

He explained that while climbing the mountain, another Sprinter bus, also coming from Accra, attempted to overtake him. In an effort to avoid a collision, he swerved but unfortunately crashed into the parked trailer.

One of the victims, who preferred to remain anonymous, described the terrifying moment:

“I was sitting at the back of the bus when I saw the other Sprinter trying to overtake in front of us. Suddenly, there was a loud crash. I was thrown forward, and everything went dark. When I regained consciousness, I was in pain, and people around me were screaming,” the victim recounted.

The accident has sent shockwaves through the community, with residents calling for improved road safety measures. An eyewitness noted that the trailer had been parked at the location for several days, adding that such incidents were frequent in the area due to improperly parked trucks.

“This is not the first time. Trailer drivers park here and leave their vehicles unattended until an accident happens before they return to move them,” the eyewitness said.
