Government allocates Ghc 6.7 billion to ghana armed forces, planning to upgrading Asutuare training camp

The government has allocated over GHC 6.7 billion to the Ministry of Defence and the Ghana Armed Forces to enhance their operations.

President John Dramani Mahama stated that his administration is upgrading the Asutuare Training Camp into a first-class facility to improve military preparedness and training standards.

During a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Chief of Defense Staff and Service Commanders at the presidency today, President Mahama assured them of his government’s commitment to improving the welfare and efficiency of security personnel.

He explained that as the economy improves, budgetary allocations for the military will increase to enable them to acquire new platforms and assets to enhance their operations.

He further assured them that his government will expand and modernize the Ghana Armed Forces.

“We will continue to work to improve the conditions of service of our men and women in the security services. This year, we have allocated over GHC 6.7 billion to the Ministry of Defense and the Ghana Armed Forces”

“As we turn the economy around, you can rest assured that your budgetary allocation will further increase to enable you secure new and additional platforms and assets in order to enhance your operations”

He added that “I will be by your side in every step of the way, already, we are planning to upgrade the Asutuare training camp to a first-class training facility”

President Mahama also acknowledged that military personnel have been deployed to Bawku and other areas for internal security operations, including handling ethnic and chieftaincy disputes.

He added that while these disputes are being addressed through mediation, judicial intervention, and community-based conflict resolution, the Ghana Armed Forces must continue to play their role in maintaining peace.

He expressed confidence in their ability to deliver.
