The National Service Authority Staff Union (NASASU) has strongly condemned what it described as “political party foot soldiers attempting” to hijack the National Service Authority (NSA).

It warned against the phenomenon, noting that it undermines the principles of democracy, erodes public trust, and compromises the integrity of institutions in the country.

In a press statement dated April 11, 2025, and signed by the Chairperson of NASASU, Ayirebi Adubofour, the union reiterated calls for institutional independence, reminding the general public that the NSA operates as a public institution under the Public Services Commission and is not subject to the influence of any political group.

“Our recruitments and transfers are done in line with our approved Scheme of Service, and in accordance with the Public Services Commission Act and the provisions of the Constitution under Article 195,” it added.

NASASU, therefore, urged the youth of the Western Region to exercise restraint and allow the management of the authority to function as defined by law and its status.

They entreated management to adhere to the guiding principles and protect the integrity of the NSA.

The union further called on the government to act to protect state institutions from political manipulation and urged political parties to respect the independence of the NSA.
