Passport fees reduced from GHC500 to GHC350,  – Minister

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that passport application fees have been reduced from GHC 500 to GHC 350.

According to the Minister, Cabinet has approved the reduction pending parliamentary approval.

Speaking at the launch of the new chip-embedded passport at the Passport Head Office, the Minister said the move follows international standards and aims to improve security, make travel easier, and modernize passport services for Ghanaians.

Mr. Ablakwa added that applicants will not pay extra for delivery, as the cost has been included in the new fee structure.

He warned that anyone who asks for mobile money (MoMo) payments for passport delivery should be consier a fraudster.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, who officially launched the program, said the project started more than ten years ago but required bold leadership to complete.

He emphasized that serving the nation is a privilege and comes with the responsibility to be practical and innovative.

He urged public servants to use common sense, be practical, and bring new ideas to their work, stressing that such qualities bring progress in governance.
