NHIA pays over GH¢250million to healthcare providers

The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced the payment of an additional Two Hundred and Fifty-Nine Million, Five Hundred and Forty-Six Thousand, Six Hundred and One Cedis, Seventy-Seven Pesewas (GHS259,546,601.77) to deserving credentialed healthcare providers.

The Chief Executive of the authority, Dr. Victor Asare Bampoe, sanctioned the payments to public, private, mission, and quasi-public facilities in May 2025.

“GHS112,607,239.74, representing 43 percent, was paid to public facilities, while private facilities received GHS104,643,070.75, signifying 40 percent,” It disclosed in a statement.

It stated that the mission facilities category received GHS40,015,892.20, which indicates 15 percent, and the Quasi-public facilities were paid GHS2,280,399.08, which implies one percent.

The statement explained the recent payments translate to over One Billion Ghana Cedis (GHS1,103,028,808.59) paid this year (2025) in claims to credentialed healthcare providers nationwide.

“This significant disbursement demonstrates the NHIA’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) and ensuring that healthcare providers are resourced and motivated to deliver quality services to our cherished members.”

The NHIA reaffirm its focused on improving efficiency, enhancing provider relations, and delivering on its mandate to ensure financial access to quality healthcare for all residents of Ghana.
