The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced plans to convene a meeting with all presidential hopefuls who have publicly declared their intention to contest for the party’s 2026 flagbearer position.

This initiative aims to alleviate rising tensions and reinforce internal discipline in the lead-up to the primaries.

In a statement released on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party revealed that its National Steering Committee has resolved to organise a joint meeting involving all aspirants, the Steering Committee, and the National Council of Elders.

The meeting is scheduled for Thursday, July 3, 2025.

According to the statement, the purpose of this engagement is to “discuss matters of mutual interest” and fortify party unity as preparations for the presidential primaries intensify.

In a related development, the party has referred its Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, to the National Disciplinary Committee.

He stands accused of violating party directives by making “unguarded public comments” despite prior warnings from the National Council.

Furthermore, the party issued a stringent directive for the immediate cessation of all caucuses or private meetings between presidential aspirants and current or former party executives or government appointees.

It emphasised that such activities contravene established party regulations.

“The Party wishes to once again remind members of their constitutional obligation to protect party unity, to abide by and publicly support the Party’s decisions, and to refrain from engaging in acts that threaten party cohesion,” the statement added.
