The National Labour Commission (NLC) has directed the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) to suspend its intended industrial action.
The NLC directive follows steps being taken to resolve the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission’s (GTEC) ongoing dispute over alleged non-compliance with a previous ruling.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, the NLC acknowledged receipt of GAUA’s letter on the matter copied to the Ministry of Education, the Director-General of GTEC, and others, and referred to an earlier communiqué dated June 9.
“The Union is therefore directed to refrain from any intended action… since parties are scheduled to appear before the Commission on 9th July, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. for reporting,” the statement stated.
The Commission also ordered GTEC to formally respond to the issue of non-compliance on or before the close of work on Friday, June 27, and urged that, if proven otherwise, it should provide evidence of compliance.
