Mentor aspiring women into leadership roles – Vice President to female MPs

Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has urged female Members of Parliament (MPs) to commit to mentoring and supporting aspiring women to advance into leadership roles.

She made this call during a meeting she hosted at the Presidency with a delegation of female MPs who visited on Friday, 27th June 2025, to express their goodwill and appreciation.

The Vice President commended the MPs for their ongoing efforts and contributions to national development and emphasized the need to extend similar opportunities to the next generation of women.

“I expressed my sincere gratitude for their support and congratulated each of them for the strides they are making in their roles. I underscored the importance of extending the opportunities we have received to the next generation.

“We need to reach out to other aspiring women, offering mentorship and encouragement to help them rise,” she stated.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang underscored the importance of sustained collaboration and dialogue in order to promote the transformative vision of the President John Dramani Mahama-led administration.

She highlighted key focus areas, including “gender equity, good governance, and national development.”

The MPs’ entourage reaffirmed their solidarity with the current administration and praised what they described as a “renewed atmosphere of inclusive and purposeful governance.”

They noted that this environment is both “motivating and encouraging” for the good people of Ghana.

The MPs further stressed the urgency of enforcing the Affirmative Action Law to deepen women’s participation in leadership and decision-making.
