A trailer transporting pineapples from Benin to Kumasi has been involved in an accident on the Adukrom mountain in the Okere District of the Eastern Region.
The incident, which occurred during the late morning hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025, led to a blockage along the Somanya–Koforidua highway, leaving passengers and buses stranded at Adukrom.
Efforts by the Okere District Assembly have partially restored traffic flow, allowing smaller vehicles such as taxis and trotro buses to pass through.
However, larger vehicles including trailers, trucks, and buses remain unable to use the stretch.
Reporting from the scene, Jaman Dehyie Opambour indicated that the Assembly is working tirelessly to clear the area and ensure a smooth flow of vehicles.
In the meantime, trucks, trailers, and buses heading toward Akosombo, Odumase, Somanya, and surrounding areas must use alternative routes.
These include the Koforidua–Oterkpolu road, the Akuapem Akropong–Larteh–Ayikuma road, and the Apiride–Somanya road.
