Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has categorically dismissed reports alleging that he is behind efforts to postpone the New Patriotic Party’s upcoming National Delegates Conference, slated for July 19, 2025.
In a statement issued on July 14, Akufo-Addo described the allegations as “completely false.”
The reports, published by Otecfmghana and GhanaWeb, claimed the former president was seeking to overturn the party’s decision to hold early presidential primaries.
Akufo-Addo’s office clarified that he has not made any such request, neither a petition nor other means and emphasized that he has been out of the country for some time.
“Clearly, those behind these publications have an agenda of their own, which has nothing to do with improving the fortunes of the New Patriotic Party (NPP),” parts of the statement noted.
