Be role models to school children — Principal urges graduates

The Principal of Abetifi Presbyterian College of Education, Dr. Mrs. Phyllis Agyemang Nyarko, has urged graduating students to serve as role models in schools they are posted to.

Speaking at the college’s 15th Congregation ceremony, where 450 students graduated, Dr. Nyarko emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge and skills acquired during their training to help shape a brighter future for the next generation.

Dr. Mrs. Phyllis Agyemang Nyarko

“Don’t go there and act lazy, go there and work hard because others sacrificed to train you. Treat the pupils as your sons and daughters, and correct them so they become responsible citizens of this country,” she said.

She cautioned against excessive use of social media, urging graduates to prioritize professional duties.

“Don’t waste your time on social media. Prepare well as a teacher so you can impact knowledge meaningfully,” she added.

Dr. Nyarko noted that effective teaching and mentorship would leave a lasting impression on students.

“Mahama has assured all graduates that this challenge will soon be history, and postings will happen automatically after service,” he stated.

He added that the initiative would ease the stress graduates face in securing employment following their service period.
