The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has said government will continue implementing policies to preserve the value of the Cedis despite it appreciation.

During the presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Thursday, July 24, 2025, he noted that the local currency is strengthening against major foreign currencies like the United States (U.S) dollar and the British pound.

“The cedi performance in the first half of the year 2025 has been impressive, the Ghana cedi experienced significant trading appreciation against all major trading currencies in the first six months.

“I am happy to inform the house that our previous cedi where the Ghana cedi used to trade against the U.S dollar at 17 is as at yesterday trading at 10.4.”

He continued, “Similarly, the Ghana cedi which was once trading at ¢21 to the British pound was trading at 14.1 as at yesterday, July 23, 2025,” Ato Forson highlighted.

According to him, stronger macroeconomic fundamentals have increased export earnings and renewed investor confidence.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson assured that the government will continue to work towards maintaining the economic stability and growth in the country.
