Kumasi Asante Kotoko claimed the second edition of the Toyota Cup with a 3–2 victory on penalties over South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.
This followed a goalless draw at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Kaizer Chiefs began the match with greater urgency, but there was no goal in the first half as both sides adopted a combative approach.
Despite signs of tactical progress in the early stages of the second half, the best opportunity to break the deadlock came in the 83rd minute when Chiefs were awarded a penalty.
Captain Inacio Miguel, their regular spot-kick taker, failed to convert his effort drifting wide of goalkeeper Mohamed Camara’s left post.
With the match still tied after regulation time, the contest proceeded to a penalty shootout. Kotoko held their nerve, securing a 3–2 win to lift the trophy.
