The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the arrival of the senior women’s National team at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) following their successful participation in the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco.
After an inspiring campaign at the TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), team Ghana will return home to a well-deserved welcome.
According to the GFA, the bronze medalists will arrive at Kotoka International Airport on Monday, July 28, at 5:00 am aboard Royal Air Maroc.
Led gallantly by captain Portia Boakye, the Black Queens impressed throughout the tournament.
They advanced through the group stages with confidence, battled fiercely in the knockout rounds, and narrowly missed out on a place in the final after a dramatic penalty shootout loss to host nation Morocco in the semifinals.
Undeterred, the team rallied for the third-place playoff, where they beat defending champions South Africa on penalties to claim the bronze medal, Ghana’s first WAFCON podium finish in over a decade.
