At least 15 members of the Saviour Church of Ghana lost their lives in a tragic road accident involving a fuel tanker at Atwedie on the Kumasi-Accra highway on Monday, July 28, 2025.
According to reports, the victims were returning to Obogu in the Asante Akyem South Municipality after attending an annual church meeting in the Eastern Region.
While the exact cause of the accident remains unclear, authorities say the head-on collision between the church vehicle and the tanker resulted in multiple fatalities at the scene.
Emergency teams from the police and fire service were dispatched, but many of the victims died on the spot due to the severity of the impact.
The bodies of the deceased, two of whom are said to be children of pastor of the church, have been conveyed to the morgue at a hospital in Juaso for preservation and further identification.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
