The National Sports Authority (NSA) boss Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has come under fierce criticism from sports journalists and stakeholders over the poor conditions of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, particularly facility management and safety in the country.
A viral video surfaced on the internet on Monday, August 4, 2024, where a firefighter was seen irrigating the brownish-looking Baba Yara pitch with a big water hose. This sparked public scrutiny among the football community.
Reacting to the video, Listowel Mensah of Angel TV Sports Desk, expressed deep disappointment in the leadership of the NSA boss who supervised such incident to occurred and rebuked him over the despicable images of the stadium.
“I feel embarrassed, I’m highly disappointed, how could we allow this to happen? — we shouldn’t disgrace President Mahama like this, we [including Yaw Ampofo Ankrah] spoke against Ex-NSA boss Professor Peter Twumasi over some of this archaic way of managing our pitches. After 7 months, if its about interviews and not real action then there is a problem.
“He should sit up, or face the same fierce criticism that his predecessor faced, which I can assure him,” Mr. Mensah stated on Angel Floodlight Sports on Monday, August 4.
FA Cup holders and Premier League Champions, Asante Kotoko and Bibiani Gold stars are running against time to use the stadium for their Africa campaign, which start latter part of this month.
