Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced that its helicopter carrying eight individuals has been reported missing after it went off radar during a flight from Accra to Obuasi on Wednesday morning, August 6, 2025.
According to an official release from the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, the helicopter, identified as Z9, took off at 0912 hours but lost contact shortly after departure.
“Z9 that took off this morning at 0912hrs from Accra and heading for Obuasi is currently off the radar,” the statement noted.
The Ghana Armed Forces has confirmed that the aircraft was carrying a total of eight people, made up of three crew members and five passengers.
“All efforts are being made to establish contact,” the statement said.
