Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, following the devastating military helicopter crash in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region.
In a statement posted on his Facebook page, the former president described the incident as profoundly shocking, noting the nation’s grief over the loss of prominent figures and military personnel.
Notable individuals among those eight perished in the crash are, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, MP for Tamale Central and Minister for Environment and Science and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The tragedy was confirmed by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah.
Akufo-Addo noted that he had personally reached out to President Mahama, Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces, and NDC Chairman Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah to convey his sympathy.
He also extended his condolences to the Ghana Air Force, recognizing the essential role its personnel play to the nation.
“May they find peaceful rest in the Bosom of the Almighty until the last day of the resurrection, when we shall all meet again,” the former president extended.
