Government announced the roadmap for the three-day period of national mourning in honor of state officials who tragically lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash.
The mourning period, which begins today, Thursday, 7 August 2025, will run through Saturday, 9 August 2025.
According to a formal statement issued by the Presidency Communications, the commemorative programme will commence with a public laying of flowers and lighting of candles at the Ceremonial Garden in front of the Presidency.

This activity is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday and will continue on Friday, 8 August.
The mourning period will conclude with an “Evening of Reflections and Memorials” at 5:00 PM on Saturday, 9 August 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House.
The government has called on all citizens to observe the period with dignity and respect.
According to the statment, further details regarding the State Funeral and additional arrangements will be communicated through official government channels.
