In a decisive operation against drug trafficking, the Central East Regional Police Command has intercepted 519 compressed parcels suspected to be Indian hemp and arrested two individuals believed to be involved in the illicit trade.
The suspects, identified as Eric Nyekye, 30, and Francis Klu, 28, were apprehended by the Nyanyano District Police patrol team while allegedly offloading the parcels from a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck with registration number GS-6849-21.

The arrest took place on August 11, 2025, during a routine patrol in the area.
According to a press release issued by the Command, the vehicle has been impounded and the suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The statement stressed that police are working to determine the origin and intended destination of the seized substances.
The Central East Regional Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to combating drug-related crimes and called on the public to remain vigilant.
