Angel TV’s Sports Journalist, Listowel Daniel Mensah, has criticized the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and its Communication Director, Henry Asante Twum for the inhumane treatment of the media at the recent 31st Ordinary Congress.
During Tuesday’s August 12, 2025, event over 100 sports journalists gathered at the Ghana National Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram to cover the Congress, but they were not allowed to enter the auditorium rather they were left outside.
Addressing these media practitioners, Mr. Twum justifies the association’s decision, indicating the venue for the occasion was too small to accommodate them.
“The congressmen are around 124 and the expected guests are 50, and the media here are over 100, I’m not sure the place is big enough to accommodate everyone, and I can’t say, first come first served, which will bring another issue,” he said.
Fast-forward, he briefed the media on the Congress following its successful completion.
Commenting on what has become a subject for discussion among the sports fraternity, Listowel Mensah, condemned the act and outlined past events that demonstrate the GFA and Mr. Twum’s hate for journalists in the country.
“Today is a sad day for the Ghanaian media fraternity, what happened is not proper and doesn’t make sense, but I’m not surprised, he [Henry] called villagers, and insulted Dan Kwaku Yeboah in the past, this same person defended an attack on Sports Journalist Seidu Adamu at the Black Stars camp in America.
“He sees the media as an enemy instead of his friend, the same space that gave him life, he used to criticise former FA Boss Kwesi Nyantakyi who didn’t do any of the things that he [Henry] is doing, it’s embarrassing,” he added on the Angel floodlight Sports.
