Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has confirmed that an arrest has been made in connection with the recent assault incident at Ridge Hospital.
Although he refused to provide details on the arrest, he noted that the matter is currently under investigation to ensure all persons involved are apprehended.
Speaking in an interview, he refuted claims that no report had been made after the incident.
“We as a health ministry, we are investigating the matter. Anyone who tells you there hasn’t been any arrest is simply unwilling to help solve the issue,” he stated.
The minister made the confirmation in an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, reaffirming the sector’s commitment to ensuring that justice is served to the victims.
Mr. Akandoh indicated that the ministry is on top of the matter in liaison with the police in their investigations.
“Let’s leave the police to do their work. I don’t want to mention names, but whoever had a role to play in that incident must be brought to book.
“As a minister responsible for the sector, whatever I have to do to ensure the right thing is done will be done. I took steps, and I can confidently tell you that the ministry is on top of the issue,” Akandoh emphasized.
The minister further assured the public that operations at Ridge Hospital remain stable despite the incident.
“My reports show that the system is running. I have received briefings from the man in charge at the hospital,” he noted.
