Security and Fraud Consultant, Richard Kumadoe, has expressed concern over the conduct of dancehall artiste Shatta Wale following his detention by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO).

Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, August 21, 2025, Mr. Kumadoe said the musician’s disregard for advice has contributed to his current situation.

The security consultant explained that the musician’s public response to the matter was unnecessary, noting that it would have been better for him to cooperate with investigators instead of making comments that could complicate his case.

“But because sometimes when you advise our brother through the media, he doesn’t listen. I was on TV3 when the issue came the first time, but he did not listen.

“Could you imagine that the first time when the issue came up, and I advised his handlers to issue a statement that I [Shatta Wale] bought this car genuinely, I didn’t know that the car had an issue. It has become clear that investigators are looking into a crime issue revolving my car. I will cooperate with the investigators, and I believe in the judicial service and trust that everything will be done properly. My lawyers are handling the case.

“Then you go home and sleep, won’t that one be better than to go on air to the kind of things he did in the past?

“Because I have said when notice is served that you’re being investigated, you look for your lawyers and Public Relations to handle the matter, you do not dictate how the investigations should be done, but it seems he was determining how the investigations should be done. You see what has happened?” he asked in an interview on Angel TV.

Responding to whether the latest development could be linked to Shatta Wale’s conduct, Mr. Kumadoe emphasized the importance of restraint during investigations.

“When you’re being investigated and notice has served wether publicly or privately, one you do not dictate to the investigation bodies, two, you do not put up an awkward behavior, three, you do not go out on social media and start ranting.

“As investigators ask primary questions you might not know why those questions, and that do not mean that it is the only question to be asked.

“And if it is said that you’re being investigated in relation to a particular car, that does not mean the whole investigation will be centered on the car. It is investigators who decide at which point they escalate it or leave it the way it is,” he schooled.

Mr. Kumadoe further advised celebrities to learn from the ongoing standoff between EOCO and Shatta Wale to avoid similar situations.

“So it should be a learning to many of the celebrities we have. We need to understand exactly what we are doing and act accordingly because this whole confrontation against one other won’t be necessary. It’s unfortunately, he [Shatta Wale] has been detained,” he observed.
