The Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has directed that all businesses remain closed on September 18, 2025, in honour of the late Queen of Asante, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The day has been set aside to mourn the departed Queen as part of her burial arrangements.

“On that day, there will be no noise. No shop will open. All will join Asanteman to mourn, and we will bury the Queen at Breman,” Otumfuo Osei Tutu II announced through his linguist during the one-week observance on Thursday, August 21, 2025.

The directive, he emphasis, includes a ban on movement which will be enforced that night.

“Today was the one week. From 1 September, there is a ban on funerals,” he indicated.

According to the drectives, the decision will stay relevant until September 18, when the deceased is laid to rest.
