At least eight container shops with their contents were completely burnt by fire early Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Asofan, in the Ga North municipality of Accra.
Several wooden shops also suffered losses in the blaze which started just around midnight, according to a report by the Ghana National Fire Service.
“The distress call was received at 0013 hours, and three (3) pumps from Amasaman, Adjen Kotoku, and Anyaa Fire Stations were immediately mobilized. The first crew arrived at 0042 hours, brought the situation under control at 0210 hours, and fully extinguished the fire at 0317 hours,” Public Relations Directorate indicated in its report.
“However, firefighters successfully salvaged multiple shops, preventing further losses,” the report report indicated.
It added that “No casualties were recorded, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.”
