Accra Hearts of Oak are champions of the 2025 Democracy Cup after overcoming city rivals Great Olympics at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The match, held on Friday, September 5, saw the Phobians emerge triumphant in the second edition of the tournament.
In a tightly contested first half that ended goalless, Hearts of Oak broke the deadlock in the 70th minute.
Forward Kofi Asmah netted the decisive goal, capitalizing on a brilliant solo run and assist from winger Kwame Karikari.
The team held firm for the remainder of the match to secure the win and become only the second side after bitter-rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko to lift the Democracy Cup since its introduction.
It is worth knowing that, Hearts of Oak lost to Asante Kotoko in the inaugural edition.
