The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted an Ad Hoc Committee to oversee and safeguard the integrity of the campaign process among aspiring Presidential Candidates, their teams, and followers.
This move comes ahead of the party’s Presidential Primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
According to a press release issued by the National Council of Elders on Monday, September 15, 2025, the committee has been tasked with three key responsibilities:
1. Monitoring the comments, actions, and conduct of all aspirants and their followers during the campaign period.
2. Receiving and reviewing petitions from aspirants concerning utterances, hate speech, insults, and abusive language directed at them.
3. Recommending appropriate measures and other sanctions, including initiating disciplinary action where necessary, to preserve the dignity, unity, and image of the party.
The committee comprises five members with Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abaasi serving as Chairman, Dr. Alex Glover-Quartey, Mr. Ato Hamilton, and Mr. Kwadwo Afari as members, and Mr. Mark Opoku as Secretary.
In the press release, the Council of Elders calls on all aspirants, their campaign teams, and supporters to cooperate fully with the committee in discharging its mandate.
The NPP reiterates its commitment to conducting a peaceful, respectful, and dignified primary process that strengthens unity and readiness for the national elections.
